Favourite High End Mascaras

Not too long ago, I wrote a post about my favourite drugstore mascaras, so I thought that it was only fair to write one about my favourite higher end mascaras too. My top three, that I am going to talk about are MAC Extreme Dimension Lash, Urban Decay Perversion and Benefit They're Real.

MAC Extreme Dimension Lash
I got this mascara when I was in America, in a gift set and I love it a lot. It is great for adding a lot of volume to your lashes, and also the colour of the mascara makes them so dark. Whenever, I go for a dramatic eye look, and have false lashes on, I love love love this mascara on my bottom lashes. It dries quickly, lasts throughout the day and holds a curl really well.

Urban Decay Perversion
This mascara actually made it into my 2015 Favourites, because I love it so much. It does add some volume, but mainly focuses on lengthening. I use it for a softer and more natural look. I tend to use a combination of both this one and the MAC one, on a day to do basis. The formula is amazing, and it dries quickly and lasts all day. It isn't waterproof, but it doesn't smudge throughout the day, and is also really easy to remove, which is a bonus.

Benefit They're Real
I find it so crazy that I am so in love with this mascara, and I have never even owned the full size. I got the mini version in a gift set, about a year ago, and love it so much. Again, I would go to this one for length rather than volume, although it does do a good job of both. The brush makes your lashes curl up when you apply it too, which I love. This mascara also lasts for a very long time, and holds a curl really well.

What are your favourite higher end mascaras?

How to Stay Happy

January is often said to be the Monday of the year and the worst month, and I can see why people say that. It follows the happiness of Christmas, and if you have nothing to look forward to, it can often leave you feeling down. Obviously it can happen at any time of the year, and to try to help you out,  I have put together a post with my best tips of keeping your spirits up. I'm no expert by any means, but here are my tips, which I hope you can find helpful.

Figure out what's making you sad
Sometimes your sadness may be down to a reason that you know, such as a breakup, but sometimes you just feel sad for what appears to be no reason. If you don't know what's wrong with you, it makes it 10 times harder to help yourself. Once you know what's bothering you, it is a lot easier to start to feel happier. Sometimes there is no reason behind it, and sometimes you won't know until afterwards. But, just spend a little bit of time thinking about what could be the reason behind your sadness.

Allow yourself to be sad
It isn't normal for a person to be happy 100% of the time, and even if other people appear that way, that isn't true. Everyone gets sad. It is important to know that it is normal, and allow yourself to feel sad for a short period of time.

Confide in someone
It is always said that a problem shared is a problem halved, and although you may feel like you are burdening someone, the likelihood is that they are happy you've confided in them. Other people may also have a different outlook on an issue, which could help you out a lot seeing things from another persons point of view. Sometimes, you won't need advice. You might just want someone to vent to, and this can be very helpful.

Distract yourself
It is not easy to become happier, when you are just sat around thinking about it all day. One of the best ways to cheer yourself up is to get out of the house and distract yourself. You could meet up with your friends or family, go on a day out or even just watch a funny film.

Re-evaluate your situation
If it has been a long time and you are still feeling down, it may be time to re-evaluate your situation. This is obviously different for everyone, but it may be good to just think about what it really is that is making you sad, and whether or not you are taking the best approach to helping yourself.

Get help
It is obviously so important that, if you are really really sad for a lot of the time, you get help. You could either go to a doctor or a therapist, in order to help you. It could even just be confiding more deeply in a friend and telling them that you are worried.

I hope you have found this helpful in some way.

MAC Velux Brow Liner Review

I had a makeup lesson at MAC over a year ago now, and when I had it done, this pencil was used on my eyebrows. I loved it so much and been meaning to pick it up ever since. I ended up getting it for Christmas, and have loved using it so far.

The colour I got it in was Brunette, and it matches me perfectly. It comes with a pencil on one end and a spoolie on the other end. The spoolie is so soft, and is so much different to the one on the Rimmel Proffesional Brow Pencil, which is really scratchy.

As for the pencil itself, it is really easy to use and apply, and a little goes such a long way. It glides on so easy, but could be easy to get carried away with. I have just been using short little strokes, so that my brows still look very natural, but just more full.

It lasts for such a long time, and is still there when it comes to taking off my makeup at the end of the day, which never seems to happen to me. I love it so much, and it is definitely worth the money.

How to Relax and Chill Out

Whether you are stressed out by school, work or just everyday life, if can be a really hard thing to get out of. It is so important to take the time to relax and chill out from whatever it is thats making you stressed, so that you feel more calm and level headed. Here are some of my tips on how to relax.

Get done what you need to
One of the main factors that can make you feel stressed, is if you have work to do that is unfinished. In some situations it is best to get that done first and then relax later. But, if you are overly stressed, it is important for you to be relaxed first and then tackle the task later.

Have a bath
Everyone has different opinions about baths and showers, but to me there is nothing more relaxing than a bath. You can add bath bombs and bubble bath, and spending a good 20-30 minutes in there will calm you down completely.

Hot drink
Hot drinks are also proven to de-stress you. I wouldn't pick something like coffee, especially if it is in the evening, because you will be up all night. Drinking something like green tea or hot chocolate, will do a great job of making you feel calm and relaxed.

Take your mind off of the stress
Sometimes stress can be hard to escape from if it is always in your head and on your mind. One of the best ways to relax is to take your mind off of it. You can do this by watching TV or a film. I always find that anything comedy will help me to relax. Something like Friends, will always help me out.

Exercise is one of the best things you can do when you are stressed. You will release endorphins, especially through cardio, which will naturally put you in a better mood. Exercise is also likely to take your mind off of stress too. It doesn't necessarily need to be a long work out. Something short and intense would be very beneficial.

I know it can be hard when you are stressed, but getting the right amount of sleep will help you out. I like to get 8-9 hours sleep per night, to keep myself feeling awake and clear-minded. I don't really like napping because I always wake up confused and disorientated, but for some people it is really helpful.

Do you have any other tips for relaxing?

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer Review

I have wanted this concealer for such a long time, and I got it for Christmas, which I was so so happy about. I've mentioned before, but one of my biggest insecurities about my face, is the fact that my under eye circles are so dark. I am always on the look out for a high coverage concealer, that can hide them, or at least maintain them.

I haven't had this product for two long yet so I will be giving you a mix between a first impressions and a review.

The shade that I got it in is NC20, which was a complete guess when I asked for it for Christmas, but I think I did a good job. It matches my skin tone well and is light enough that it brightens my eyes, without being too light and over powering.

I have never had a liquid concealer which comes without an applicator before, and I am enjoying using a brush to apply it and a beauty blender to blend it in. It blends really easy, and looks good either over or under foundation.

It is probably the best coverage concealer that I have ever used. I haven't got any spots or blemishes to cover at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it would do a great job of that too. I like the fact that it is high coverage, but not at all cakey or thick.

It lasts a really long time, and if it is set with powder, it will last you throughout the day. I am loving it at the moment, and was one of my favourite Christmas presents.

How to Save Money When Shopping Online

Shopping is the best hobby, but the most expensive one, so I'm all for saving a bit of money here and there. Here are some of my tips to save money when shopping online.

Shop Around
It may seem like an obvious point, but I would recommend that if you find something that you like, don’t buy it straight away. Have a look on other websites, to see if you can buy the same thing or something similar for a much better price. Often it will amount to nothing, but you could end up saving a lot of money.

Sale Section
I don’t like spending any more money than I need too, so if I’m browsing shops online, the first thing that I always do is look through the sale section. Especially in places like Topshop and New Look, their sale sections often have a lot of good quality products for good quality prices. Sometimes, you won’t find anything, but it’s always worth looking.

Shop out of Season
This can be a risky move, if you are one for keeping up with trends, but buying clothes out of season can save you a fortune. For example, a lot of the time I will buy things like bikinis and shorts in the winter, when the company will be trying to sell them all off to make room for winter stock. It won’t be an exciting purchase at the time, but it will be good by the time you get back round to that season

Sign up for Email Alerts
Junk emails can often be the most annoying thing ever, but not if you do it right. I have an email account, which I don’t use for much else other than email alerts from different shops. Sometimes, this will amount to nothing, but a lot of the time, you may get discount codes that aren’t available to anyone else and also advanced news of upcoming sales.

Use the Online Chat
In a lot of online shops, there is an icon in the corner of the page where you can ask for help from someone who works there. If the website that you are using has this, it could prove useful because you can ask them if there are any secret sales, or any discount codes that they could give you. This often works out very well for a lot of shoppers.

Products I Want to Try in 2016

I love trying out new makeup, and use the New Year as an opportunity to browse around and have a look at the different products that I want to try during the year. Here are some of the products off of the list.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
I want 2016 to be the year where I try out loads of new primers, as I want to find ways to make my makeup stay on for the longest time possible. The Smashbox Photo Finish Primer is one that I hear about so often, and is so highly rated and recommended. It is quite pricey, so if any of you have tried it, let me know what you think.

Anastasia Brow Wizz
I have wanted to try the Brow Wizz for such a long time. Again, this is raved about so often. It's hard to get hold of in England, unless you order it online, but I don't know what colour I'd be. I almost picked it up, in a rush when I was in America, and I wish I had. I'm going to America again in the summer, so I'll pick it up then, if I haven't got it before then.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation
I have never tried anything from Charlotte Tilbury before, but it is such a highly rated brand, so I would love to this year. The Magic Foundation seems amazing, and I'm a big fan of the packaging, too.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara
I am in love with Benefit's They're Real Mascara, which makes me think that Roller Lash will be amazing too. It has such amazing reviews, and is supposed to be amazing at lengthening lashes, which I need major help with.

Nars Velvet Lip Liners
During 2015, I got a lot more into lipsticks, so I am after some high quality lip liners to go with them. These ones are more expensive, but are apparently worth the money, so I would love to try them out and see.

What do you want to try in 2016?

Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016

It is nuts to think that another year has come and gone. It feels like life is moving so quickly, and it's nice to sit down and reflect on what happened during the year, and what your goals are for next year.

Memorable Moments of 2015:
-Leaving school
-My Exams and getting the results
-Starting Sixth Form
-Jumping off the top of a mountain
-Holidays and school trips abroad

My goals were 2015 were to do well in my exams and focus on improving my blog, both of which I feel like I have achieved. I am very excited for what 2016, and I have also set myself some blog goals for the year.

I have been blogging for a little while, and I would really like to take it to the next level, and possibly create more of an income from it, through advertisers and sponsored posts. Whilst, I love blogging a lot, and no matter what it will always be my hobby, it would be nice if I could get a small income from it. Don't worry though, nothing will be changing around here.

Again, this year I also want to focus on the quality of my blog posts, and also keeping a consistent quantity of posts. Obviously, some months will be busier than others, but I want to stay organised, meaning that I will write at least 10 new blog posts per month.

I hope everyone has had an amazing 2015, and has an even better 2016.

What are your goals for 2016?
