Navy Smokey Eye Look

Today, I thought I'd do somewhat of a different post. Instead of including a picture of my makeup and a list of the products I used, I thought it would be better to show you how I did it in a video.

If you have any questions about the products I used, feel free to leave a comment!

I hope you enjoy this different type of post. Let me know what you think!

Next Beauty Launch

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Next Beauty launch in London. It was a lovely night, where I got to meet and speak to other bloggers. There were displays of the new products, delicious food and you also had the option of getting your makeup and nails done, and your brows threaded. There were also two live makeup tutorials from the lovely Lydia Millen.

I received a goodie bag with a selection of the new products, so I thought I'd share my first impressions with you. When I think of Next, I never think of them selling makeup, so I was pleasantly surprised with the amazing quality of them.

My favourite product that I was sent was the Cherry Red Lip Chubby. It is so glossy, but still has amazing coverage.

Another lip product that I received was the Simply Peach Matte Lip Colour. I love the packaging of this lipstick, and the colour is a beautiful pinky nude. The lipsticks retail at £8 each.

The Perfect Look Ink Liner was also sent to me, in the colour Praline Brown. I love that this is a brown eyeliner, rather than the typical black one, although it does come in black too. I was so impressed with this product, because when I first swatched it, it took so much effort to get off, meaning it will have great lasting power.

The final makeup product I for was the Perfect Cheeks Blusher, also retailing at £8. It is a lovely blush for spring and summer, as it is shimmery but still subtle.

The final two things I received were part of the Nail Colour Collection. The shimmery blue is called Frozen, and I love the name. The grey is called Molten Platinum. I had the chance to look at all of the nail polishes at the event, and there are so many colours.

I had a lovely time at the event. Big thanks to Next Beauty. I would definitely recommend you checking out their products, either in store or online here.

Guest Post || Spring Skin Detox: DIY Tips

It is about time you practiced some skin loving care as the spring has already come and you still have those dead cells after the dull winter. Spring is the time when everything is in bloom and so needs your skin to be! Hesitate no more, the time to combat the dead skin cells is now.

Everything starts with the diet

First of all, you need to take care of the food you are eating. If you opt for skin detoxifying food you are about to experience a radical change in the glow your skin has. My favourite thing ever is to start the day with a detoxifying green drink which leaves me with a clearer skin and with a piece of mind. Not only am I more relaxed after drinking it, but I have a positive experience regarding my digestive system – it is easy to digest and I feel that this kind of drink gives me a lot of energy, so this is how I prepare my favourite drink ever:
You will need a lemon, three cups of water, a bit of ginger, four tiny slices of cucumber and ¼ cup of mint. I put all of these into a blender and mix it until the drink becomes smooth. If you like you can add ice to get a refreshing effect. The lemon is a magnificent fruit to start the day with and its tummy-slimming effects are well-known. This potion will make you forget about bloating and the best of all – you will get the perfect skin you always wanted.

Your face needs a mask

In order to have a clearer skin on your face, you may just go to your kitchen cabinets and grab the honey jar, a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. Take two teaspoons of honey and mix them with one of cinnamon and a bit of nutmeg. Once it is perfectly mixed, squeeze a bit of lemon and mix it all together. The effects will be amazing! A friend recommended this mask to me and I imagined it would take me at least couple of weeks to see the results, but I was utterly amazed when I noticed them instantly.

Choose makeup wisely

Do not go harsh on your skin, the make up you apply can do more harm to your skin than you might even think. In the past I thought that only long-lasting effect of the make up was important, but, Gosh, I was so wrong! These days I discovered something that changed my attitude towards the cosmetics, and in order to detox your facial skin I recommend you to only use natural and mineral-based make up. My BFF recommended to me Jane Iredale makeup products which she absolutely loves now! She had her skin spring ready in no time, and I could not help but ask her what was her secret, and then she introduced me to this fabulous mineral make up. So, it is possible to look beautiful and do your skin detox at the same time.

Your hair needs a treatment, too

Forget about expensive treatments at your hairdresser’s, I have found something that will make your hair look better than ever. After a long period of using hair straighteners and curling irons you probably realized how damaged your hair is. Then I must recommend you this recipe for restoring your hair completely, helping it grow faster and it will give you natural healthy glow.
What you will need is organic coconut oil and honey. Just mix a tablespoon of coconut oil with a tablespoon of honey. If your hair is really damaged, I suggest that you add some extra oil. Apply this mask to a dry hair from top to the bottom and leave it to rest for at least an hour. Be sure to use a towel or a shower cap if you do not want to ruin your clothes while keeping the mask on your hair. Then, just rinse it with a regular shampoo and a conditioner and prepare to be amazed by a softer, smoother and healthier hair you are about to get!
Your hair and skin need a deep treatment to get ready for the spring so be sure to provide them with natural and mineral based substances that will keep them nourished and healthy.

University or Not?

Currently, at 17 years old, I am facing the decision whether I should go to university or not. I feel very fortunate to be in a society with access to some of the best further education facilities in the world (even if £9,000 a year is extortionate), and always thought I would take full advantage of that, but now I'm not too sure.

I have always done pretty well at school, and have often been told that I can achieve big things with that, so I have always been pretty sure that I would attend university. However, now that it is almost time for me to apply I'm starting to wonder whether or not it's actually what I want.

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that I would love university if I went. The majority of people that go say it's the best years of their lives, and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. However, at this current moment, I still have no idea what I want to do with my life. I'm starting to wonder if it is worth me spending £30,000 on a degree that I may never use, and spend the next however many years paying it off.

At the moment, the only thing I want to do is travel the world. I have no idea what to do with my life, but will uni help me with that? I have always been of the opinion that I will go where life takes me and I will figure it out along the way.

I am not against either, and am currently facing a very hard decision. I am interested to hear from people from both sides, so please please please leave me a comment, whether you've been to university or not.

How I Organise my Nail Polishes

I have more nail polishes than anyone could ever need in a lifetime, so keeping them organised is pretty important. I keep them all in a drawer and the top of them all look the same, so it takes me ages to rummage through them to find a colour.

Instead, I came up with a new way of organising them, to cut down the time that it takes for me to choose and find a nail polish. It didn't take to long for me to organise them either.

I bought some colour display wheels, which you can get for really cheap on Amazon, and then some little white stickers.

I wrote numbers on the stickers and stuck them each next to a nail on the wheel. I then painted each nail on the wheel, and stuck a sticker with the corresponding number on top of the nail polish.

It means that when it comes to choosing my nail polish, I can look at the wheels and pick a colour, find what number it is, and find the corresponding bottle of nail polish. It makes things a whole lot easier, and saves a lot of time. I love the idea of it all being organised, too!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

As much as I like high end mascaras, there has always been something about Maybelline mascaras that I love more. I heard great things about Lash Sensational for so long, and finally decided to pick it up a couple of months ago.

At first I didn't get along with it at all, but I often find that with new mascaras, so I kept using it and I am very glad I did. It has shot right up there now and has become one of my all time favourites. The formula is a little bit more dry than other Maybelline mascaras, which I like because it takes less time to dry in between applying layers. It also holds a curl a lot better than most other mascaras, and smudges a lot less.

As I mention a lot, I don't have the longest eyelashes. So using lengthening mascaras is essential for me. I love the fact that this mascara gives amazing length, but also amazing volume. It is a good amount of volume, that makes your lashes thicker but not clumpy.

It makes your eyes look a lot bigger. I wear false lashes quite a lot now, and I find this mascara to be a good one to use when blending your real lashes into the false ones. It is also good on the bottom lashes.

My only small issue with it is the shape of the applicator because it isn't great at separating your lashes completely. It isn't impossible but it just takes a bit of work.

Have you tried this out? What do you think?

7 Ways to Bring More Beauty to your Beauty Routine || Guest Post

If there is one thing that can be used to unite all ladies across the world, then it is the quest for beauty.  Don’t give me that look, it can happen but if they stopped viewing it as a ground for competition but rather a uniting factor. It is because all women want to look beautiful. I mean, what can be more unifying than a typical course?

Now, because you are no exception, you must have this nicely laid out beauty routine that you follow religiously in a bid to remain a gorgeous lady within a diameter of 90 hectares if not the world over. These routines have been shown to yield marvelous results but only when they are utilized with some craft. This article aims at enlightening you on some of the things you can do to stretch the benefits of your routine and in so doing get more beauty. They include:

1. Correctly washing your face
Any sound beauty routine must include washing your face after workouts, in the morning and before sleep. It is to remove all dirt that may clog your pores and cause breakouts. However, you need to notice that it is not just any washing. Rather, it's washing that has been done using warm water, a good cleanser and with your hands. It is because soap can cause irritation, hot water trigger dryness while a washcloth can irritate your skin.

2. Do not over cleanse
In the quest for beauty, you can easily get carried away. It is especially when it comes to washing. However, Dr Gohara says that washing should be reduced to the barest minimum. It is because too much washing strips the skin off its natural moisturizing oils and hence leaves it dry. When this happens, the glands in the skin will be stimulated to produce oil in excess to bridge this deficit. Now, it is this excess oil that will bring forth skin breakouts if they are not removed from the skin. Therefore, it is important not to keep washing your face as you may be doing more harm than good. The same is also true for your hair.

3. Invest in a good wrinkle cream
The area under the eyes is overly prone wrinkling due to its thin nature. Also, your skin may get wrinkled as time progresses.  Now instead of banking heavily on the concealer to hide these unflattering lines, you can choose to invest in the best wrinkle creams like masque bar that will eliminate those lines once and for all.

4. Avoid alcohol based hair sprays
Now, a beauty routine cannot be complete in the absence of a breathtaking hair do. Usually, this will be realized in the form of spraying your hair to make it easy to style. The alcohol based sprays often offer a firm grip on your hair thus ensuring it stays intact for long. However, according to DR Parade, a dermatologist based in Francisco, these sprays may end up making your hair dry and brittle and hence increase its susceptibility to breaking.  It is why, unless your routine is aimed at hair loss, you should only go for the light sprays which will not jeopardize the strength of your strands.

5. Apply sunscreen after makeup
If you are beauty conscious, then you must know of the grave damage the sun can cause to your skin. This is why you have probably invested in the top of the range sunscreen, may be SPF 50 or more. However, you may not be aware of the fact that this sunscreen may not be of any help if you apply it before makeup. It is because research has shown that when other products are applied over the sunscreen, they reduce the SPF significantly. This is why sunscreen should be the last touch of your makeup.

6. Exercise and drink lots of water
Now, you may be following the best beauty routine of all times, but if your insides are not beautiful, then it will be of no use. This is why you should keep drinking water to flush out all the toxins. Did you know that a high intake of water gives you a glowing skin? It is also important to exercise regularly because it is an exercise that will increase blood flow to your scalp and skin and consequently gives you a radiant skin and healthy hair. Exercise will also relieve you of stress and hence reduce the occurrence of those stress lines.

7. Always moisturize
After washing your skin, it is bound to feel a bit tight due to the resulting dryness. Now, if left this way, the skin will react by producing excess oils and hence foster a breakout or acne.  This is why your routine should and must incorporate a good moisturizer that is specially cut out for your type of skin to avert wrinkling and skin breakouts.

Beauty routines are a must follow if you are to achieve that ideal look. However, it is important to know the dos and don'ts that come with them to ensure they don’t bring forth unwanted repercussions.  With the tips above, you will be able to reap the full benefits of your routines and remain beautiful ever after.

'The Diamond Room' - Coming Soon at Gemporia

Is it just me that imagines shopping for diamond jewellery, especially an engagement ring, to be very stressful? It involves going out and looking round several stores to try and find the perfect one. Luckily for us, Gemporia* will be launching 'The Diamond Room', which is a way of shopping for the perfect ring without even having to leave your bed.

Using 'Virtual In Store Retailing (VIStailing)', the customer will now have the ability to to directly engage with diamond experts via live video chat, or a typed request. They will be available from 1pm-1am, 7 days a week to give you a personal shopping experience like no other.

The experts are fully trained to answer any questions that you may have about specific pieces of jewellery, and can show you close up footage, as well as compare two different pieces to each other. It means that the customer is not just relying on pictures.

The Gemporia Founder, Steve Bennet says: "There have always been customers who know exactly what they want and will shop online in the conventional way, but when customers need a more detailed service and demonstration, VIStailing is the obvious choice."

The difference between shopping on the high street, and shopping with Gemporia, is that they have over 700 designs to choose from, which you would never be able to look at if you went into a store. The prices of the jewellery is also a lot better than in stores.

Once you have decided on your perfect piece of jewellery, it will be shipped the following day, right in time for you to pop the question.

This launches on the 4th March, so get excited. You can take a further look here

The Balm's Mary-Lou Miniser Review

I bought this highlighter in December, because I had a Feel Unique voucher, and I had heard so many people raving about it. It completely lives up to the hype. I am so in love with it, which you will know if you read my January Favourites post.

I included a picture above, of a swatch of the product, but it doesn't do it justice. It doesn't pick up too well on camera, so don't let that put you off.

For an all over dewy effect, I have been putting Benefit's High Beam under my foundation, and then this one over the top. I have found this to be an amazing combination. It is just as amazing on its own though.

It costs £17, so it's a little more pricey, but it is completely worth the money! Also, you only need a little bit of the product to create a big effect, so I'm hoping it will last me ages. But I will definitely be repurchasing when I finally run out.

I was so set on finding a highlighter that looks natural and not really cakey on your foundation, and this one is perfect. It lasts with your makeup too, and stays in place all day.

As for the packaging, I love the drawing on the compact and think it looks great. However, I find the packaging really hard to open. Other than that it is amazing and I would definitely recommend it.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Review

If you read my January Favourites post, you will know that I am currently in love with the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. They are liquid lipsticks, that are matte and very long lasting.

First of all I bought the colour 'Amsterdam' (the red on the left). I loved the formula so much that I decided to buy two more, and they were 'London' (the nude in the middle) and 'Copenhagen" (the burgundy on the right). I love the names of them too, and the fact that they are all named after cities.

Amsterdam- I am not the person to wear red lipstick too often but when I do, I want to wear the perfect one. This is amazing. It's not too red that it's overpowering, but it isn't too dark either. It is a really good balance.

London- I have to say, as bad as it sounds, I bought this because it is called London. I obviously liked the look of the colour, but the name swayed my decision. It actually ended up being my favourite of all three. It's a very neutral nude, not too brown and not too pink.

Copenhagen- I always seem to buy dark purple lipsticks. I think they work pretty well with my skin tone, and this one is no exception. The pigmentation is great, and you can either wear it as a bold colour or more toned down depending on how much you apply.

As for the formula of the lipsticks, it is incredible. The pigmentation of all the colours are amazing, and they stay that way for hours. The lipsticks are matte, and they dry so quickly. You can eat and drink about 3 minutes after you've applied it and it will not budge. They can become a little bit drying if you wear them for long periods of time, but not as much as some other lipsticks.

They only cost £5.50 from Feel Unique and Boots, and in my opinion, that's an absolute bargain. I am definitely going to look at buying them in some more colours.

Gemporia Wishlist

You guys know that I love a wishlist, so when Gemporia* contacted me about their brand I was very excited. They have some beautiful jewellery, both high end and more affordable. The website has so many different items on it, so there is something for everyone. I have picked out a few of my favourite items. You can check out their website here.

This necklace is so beautiful, and I love the way that it is simple but still has quite an elaborate charm. This would be a great present for a friend/ mum/ sister.

Swiss Blue Topaz & Tanzanite Sterling Silver Necklace- £146
I have kept this wish list pretty affordable, but I had to put at least one thing a bit more pricy on here. I am in love with this. I love the pattern, and the blue adds such a nice, subtle colour.

I am all for statement jewellery, but I also love pieces like this, which are very simple and elegant. I love that this could be worn for either an everyday or formal look. It is also very affordable.
I think that this bracelet would be such a good present for your mum. The colours are beautiful, and I love the fact that there are three subtly different colours.
These earrings look so expensive, and I think that they are a great value for money. They would look great for a dressed up event.
A lot of the rings from Gemporia are engagement rings, and are therefore pretty pricey (but gorgeous!), but this one is on the more affordable side. This ring is so beautiful and I love the shape and colour.

Which one of these is your favourite?
