America Makeup Haul

I recently got back from a holiday in Florida. One of my favourite things about visiting America is the shopping, and my favourite thing to shop for is makeup. I thought it would be nice to show you what I bought.

The first two products that I bought were from Elf Cosmetics, which isn't in drugstores in the UK. I picked up the Smudge Pot, which is a gel eyeshadow very similar to the Maybelline Colour Tattoos. I really loved the colour, and also like the fact that it can be either used as an eyeshadow or an eyeliner.

I also picked up Blotting Sheets, because I always find myself getting oily throughout the day, so I am going to try them out and see if they help.

Next up I hit MAC, which never ends well because there is so much in there I would love to buy. I picked up a mini version of the Vanilla Pigment, which I have heard great things about for such a long time. I have used it a couple of times and so far I love it.

I also picked up a the Kinda Sexy Lipstick, which is a matte one. It is a pinky nude shade and I love the colour. Again, I have used this a couple of times and love it so far. I will write a full review at some point in the future.

The next three MAC products were part of a gift set. It was an eye makeup set, and it included the In Extreme Dimension Lash Mascara, the Fluidline Gel Eyeliner and the Kohl Eye Pencil, all in black. I have been using the mascara everyday since I bought it, but I haven't had much of a chance to try out the eyeliner and eye pencil. I loved the idea of this gift set, because it included three products that I wanted to try, but it worked out at a cheaper price.

I also picked up the Neutrogena Shine Control Primer. As I mentioned earlier, I struggle with slightly oily skin, and I am hopeful that this primer will help it. This is the first Neutrogena makeup that I have bought, as I have only ever bought skincare items from them before.

At the same time, I also picked up the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer. I'm only 16, so I clearly don't need it for age rewind, but I have heard this has amazing converge. I also love the sponge applicator on the end, as it makes things so much easier to apply.

The last this that I bought on holiday was a Strawberry EOS Lip Balm. I have wanted to try this out for a long time, simply because the packaging is so different and unique. I love the flavour of it, and it is helping my dry lips.

Have you tried any of these out? What did you think of them?

  1. I love the Maybelline instant age rewind!
It's super nice underneath the eyes and it doesn't crease and isn't too thick. It's really amazing for the undereye area.

I also have the ELF blot sheets for clients. I always give some to brides, bridal parties and they're super inexpensive!

It's so true about the skin issues! As another makeup artist, I find that most people have no clue how to keep their skin good. They come to us hoping we can help them make their skin appear more flawless and beautiful.

Skin preparation is so key in making the makeup look beautiful. I make sure I do an exfoliation, cleanse, tone, serum and moisturizer before I start anything.

I also start on the eyebrows to give the skin some time to absorb the moisturizer too before going in with foundation right away which may soak up the moisturizer away from the skin.

As for advice, yes do what you love! I find no matter what you do, do something you love. Cause this industry is tough, waking up in the middle of the night, long hours, not being able to eat, tired and sleeplessness.

If you don't love your artwork and what you do, it really shows in the makeup!

Loved this article on another passionate makeup artist!
