August Favourites

I always use a lot more makeup and find new products in the month of August, because I am not at school, so I have more time to try out different looks and different products. So, here are my August Favourites.

My first favourite comes from the Urban Decay Naked Palette, and it is the colour Half Baked.  I had never used it too much before, but I was watching a tutorial where this colour was used to highlight the inner corners and the brow bone, and I fell in love with the way it looked. Before that I had always used the colour Virgin instead, but I am preferring Half Baked so much at the moment.

My second favourite is two different products, but I love the combination of them. They are the Rimmel Lipliner in Spice and the MAC Lipstick in Kinda Sexy. This month I have been enjoing slightly over lining my lips with this lipliner and then filling them in, and going over the top of it with the lipstick. I love that this lipstick is matte and I love the colour, because it makes your lips look natural but with a hint of colour and a fuller effect.

My third favourite is MAC's Gel Eyeliner. This is the first gel eyeliner that I have owned, and I feel like people's opinions about them can go one of two ways, but I love it. I have been using a small slanted brush to apply it. I've found that it lasts for a long time, and stays in place. Alternatively, it is also great to blend and smudge out for a smoky eye.

My final favourite is the MAC Vanilla Pigment. I know the majority of my favourites from this month have been from MAC, but I bought a lot on holiday and have been enjoying using them. This pigment is one of the first products that I ever heard about from MAC, but I'd never tried it. I bought this little version as it was on offer, and I absolutely love it. It is incredible for highlighting both your eyes and your face. The colour and shimmer are so beautiful.

What are your August Favourites?

Tea Tree Deep Cleansing Pore Strip Review

Pores can be the most annoying thing ever. No matter what you do to try and prevent them, they always manage to appear. One of the things that I like to use to help get rid of them, are pore strips. The ones that I use and love, are from Tea Tree. I like to use the 1-2 times a month, or just as and when, and they are brilliant.

All you need to do is splash your nose with water, apply the pore strip, and then leave it on for 10-15 minutes By applying the water to your nose beforehand, it makes the pore strip a lot stickier, which means that it is better at unblocking pores.

It unblocks them so well, and you can actually see all of what has come out of your pores on the strip after, which is disgusting, but it is good to know that it works well. The pore strips come in packs of 5 and are very cheap to buy in the drugstore. I would recommend them a lot.

Favourite Drugstore Mascaras

A lot of the time when it comes to mascaras, I find that drugstore ones can be just as good, if not better than high end brands, and they are so much cheaper. Here are my top three drugstore mascaras.

Rimmel Scandaleyes
This was one of the first mascaras that I ever tried, and it still remains as one of my favourites. I have both the flex version and the waterproof version, and I use them both equally. This mascara is different to most, because the brush on the wand is so big. This makes applying the mascara a lot easier, and you can do it a lot quicker. Both the flex mascara and the waterproof mascara have a pretty similar formula, although the flex one is a little bit more dry, which means that it is better at holding a curl. They are also both amazing at creating volume and length.

Maybelline The Rocket
Similarly with this mascara, I have tried both the original and the waterproof version. I prefer the waterproof one, as it dries quicker, but I still love both of them. The brush on this one is plastic, and has small bristles, which is perfect if you are focusing on lengthening your lashes. It is great at holding a curl, and it stays on throughout the day.

Maybelline The Falsies
This one is probably my favourite drugstore mascara of all time. The brush is curved which means that the lashes are pushed up when the mascara is applied, creating a curl in your lashes. I love this because my lashes are so naturally straight. This mascara really does do what it says on the tin. It creates a false lash effect, and it can be done so quickly. It adds both length and volume, and I love the fact that it holds a curl for the whole day.

What is your favourite drugstore mascara? Have you tried any of these?

DIY Eye Primer

Priming your eyes before applying eyeshadow can be a very important step. It will make your eye makeup last a lot longer, as well as improve the pigmentation of the eyeshadow. However, a lot of the time primers can be pretty expensive, especially if they are from a high end brand.
Today I am going to show you how you can make a primer from things that you probably have lying around the house. I was shown it by one of my friends a couple of years ago, and have altered it over time to suit my skin, which is the great thing about making your own.

You will need:
A small pot/ container
Vaseline
Body Butter
Foundation
Moisturiser
The end of a makeup brush or something to mix it with.

The amounts that you will need will vary, and depend on your skin type, and I'll explain why.

The vaseline needs to be included, and makes up the main body of the primer, because it is the part that will create a smooth base for the makeup.
Then add body butter. The body butter and vaseline should make up most of the primer. The amounts you need will vary depending on your skin type, but after making it once, you will learn how to alter it. The one that I use is the Body Shop Shea Butter.

The next thing you should add is the foundation, however, it is optional. You shouldn't add very much, but I like to add some to tint the primer. It means that it covers any discolouration on your eyelids.

If you have quite oily eyelids, stop here and mix it all together. The next step is to add moisturiser, but only if your eyelids are quite dry, which mine are. Don't add much. Just enough that it is hydrating. By using this primer it actually cleared up the dry skin around my eyes really quickly.
After you have added the moisturiser, mix it all together in the small pot, and you are done.

I hope that you have found this helpful. If you make it at any point, be sure to let me know.

Kohl Eyeliners

I always enjoy using eyeliner, but usually just go for a gel or liquid liner, for my upper lash line. However, in recent months, I have started using kohl eyeliners. They are eye pencils, but I love that they are easy to smudge out, and you can create a smoky look with them.

I sometimes use them on my upper lash line, and create a wing, but then go over it with a liquid liner for more definition. However they are perfect for using if you want a smoky look. I mainly use them for my waterline and bottom lash line. As I mentioned earlier, it can be just left like that, but I tend to blend it out to make a smokier eye.

The two that I have been using a lot recently, are the Avon Kohl Eye Liner in True Black, and the MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder. They are pretty similar because they are both black eye pencils, but they have a couple of differences.

The main difference is that the Avon liner has a rubber tip on the other end of the pencil, which is used for smudging it out, but the MAC one doesn't. They are both easy to use, last for a long time, and are easy to sharpen. The Avon one is a lot easier to smudge though. The Avon one retails at £6, whereas the MAC one retails at £14. Personally, I don't think that there is too much of a difference, so it isn't worth paying the extra money. In fact, I usually sway more towards the Avon one.

Have you tried either of these?

Fitting Blogging into Daily Life

One of the hardest things, when blogging, can be finding the time to do it. Until I started my blog, I honestly had no idea about the time it would take up. Therefore, the most important thing to do, is plan your time well, so that you have time to post regularly. Here are a few of my tips.

1. Plan in Advance
This is clearly the most obvious point, but if you don't do it well, it can lead to you becoming very stressed out and doing everything last minute. Personally, I would recommend that at the start of every week or month, you sit down and plan out which posts you are going to write on which days. This makes me feel so much more organised, because then each day I know exactly what I am writing about, and it means that I have no last minute panic about coming up with ideas.

2. Schedule Posts
I absolutely love the fact that on Blogger, you can write a post in advance and then just schedule it to upload at a certain time. It makes fitting blogging into daily life so much easier. It means that if there is a day or a week where you know you will be busy, you can write a post in advance and then schedule it to upload. I always do this, especially when I am on holiday. Also, I did this when I was doing my exams because I knew that I would be spending the majority of my time revising, but I didn't want to stop blogging. It is a great way to make sure you are more organised, especially when you are busy.

3. Manage Your Free Time Well
For me this is the hardest thing to do, because when I have free time, I like to just sit and relax and not have to think about anything. The problem is that you sit down for a 15 minute break, and end up spending 4 hours of the day laying down watching Netflix. It is important to make the most of your free time, and be as productive as possible, which includes blogging. So it is important to plan out that time and make sure you use it wisely.

I hope you have found these tips useful. If you have any more leave them as a comment below.

So Susan Brazilian Sun Bronzer Review

I picked up this bronzer a couple of years ago, and at the time, I barely used bronzer at all. However, more recently, I have begun to use it, and I love this product a lot.

It comes in a cardboard cylinder box, and has a powder puff inside it, on top of the actual product. I will start off by staying that I am not too sure about the fact that the packaging is made out of cardboard. The circle on the top of the lid is barely attached, and also it gets stained by other makeup very easily. The powder puff is very pretty, and is pink with a flower on the top. Most of the time I just take it out, and put it to the side if I am using the product, but it does actually work well if you want to bronze your neck, chest and arms, etc.

As for the product itself, I love it for both contouring and bronzing. It is a bit darker, than products I  usually use (such as Benefit's Hoola), but I am tanned from my holiday, so a darker colour is better at the moment. It is so amazing for contouring and creates such good definition for your cheekbones and jaw line. It is also good to use with a bigger powder brush, on your cheeks and forehead, to add a bit of extra colour.

I have had a look on their website http://sosusan.com/en/, and I can't seem to find it. However, if you can get hold of it at any point, I would definitely recommend it.

Pretty Little Liars Season Finale

*WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS*

I know the season finale came out almost a week ago now, but I have only just gotten around to writing this post. I'll start off by saying that I haven't watched Pretty Little Liars for the 5 years that it has been on. I started watching it under a year ago and just binge watched it all.

In the season 6 finale, we see A, also know as Charles, revealed to be Cece Drake. I don't want to say that I am disappointed with the episode, because I did really enjoy it. I was surprised by the reveal, but not shocked. I did like the story line, but as soon as I saw it was Cece, I pretty much guessed how it had all worked out. The storyline makes sense, with a few exceptions, but I just don't really understand her motive for torturing the girls so dramatically and for so long.

The other characters revealed in the episode, were Black Widow and Red Coat, who ended up being the same person, Sara Harvey. I wasn't disappointed with the A reveal, but I was pretty disappointed with this one. Purely because there was one character for both, and I think it could have been made more interesting if it was two different characters. Also because Sara has only been part of the show since the start of the season, and it was made pretty obvious from the start that there was something suspicious about her.

Overall I enjoyed the episode, and it was left on a good cliff hanger, but I can't help but feel like it was rushed. I am hoping that Season 7 explains a lot more, and that it will start to make more sense.

I am interested to know what you thought of the episode and the reveals.

Makeup Wishlist

I often write wishlist posts, but they are usually just focused on one brand. Today's post is a roundup of a lot of the different products that I want to try out in the future.

YSL Lipstick

Not only do I constantly here amazing reviews of these lipsticks, but I am obsessed with the packaging. However, they are pretty expensive, so I will need to make sure that I buy one in a shade that I would wear a lot.

Anastasia Brow Wizz

This is probably the most talked about brow product within the beauty community. The tip is so fine that it looks like it creates such a natural looking effect. I meant to pick one up when I was in America, and I'm so annoyed at myself that I didn't, because they are harder to get hold of in the UK.

Estee Lauder Blusher

I don't think I own any makeup products from Estee Lauder, only skincare. This blusher looks so amazing. The packaging is beautiful, and the product itself looks equally as gorgeous.

Real Techniques Beauty Blender

I honestly have no idea why I have never bought a beauty blender before. I have wanted one for so long but just always seem to forget to pick one up when I go shopping. They just look so much easier for things like blending concealer, and contour and highlight.

MAC Prolong Wear Concealer
I am always looking for a new concealer, especially because I struggle with dark circles under my eyes. A lot of people love this because of its high coverage and long lasting effect, so I would love to give it a try.

If you have tried any of these products, I would love to know what you think of them and whether or not they are worth the purchase. I am also interested in what is on your makeup wish list, so leave me a comment letting me know.

Favourite Products from Rimmel

I wrote a brand focused post recently about Benefit, and really enjoyed writing it, so I thought that I would do another, on one of my other favourite brands. Today's post is about my favourite products from Rimmel. Rimmel is the brand that I am usually drawn towards whenever I go makeup shopping, because so many of their products are amazing value for money. Here are some of my favourites.

Stay Matte Powder
This powder is a holy grail product to so many people, and I know that most of you reading this will have probably already tried it out. Although I don't use it now as much as I used to, I still love it a lot and will continue to repurchase it. It is so good at keeping you matte, and it works for hours. The only thing that you have to be careful about is that you don't apply too much, especially over foundation, because it can appear cakey at times.

Wake Me Up Concealer
If you read my July Favourites post, you will know that I am a massive fan of this concealer. It is perfect for brightening underneath your eyes and highlighting. It doesn't have too much coverage, so it is not the best when it comes to spots and large blemishes, but it is great for everything else. It also lasts for pretty much the whole day and doesn't crease under your eyes.

Natural Bronzer
I don't think that I mention this bronzer enough, but it is one of my favourites and such good value for money. It is amazing for both contouring and bronzing your face. It is quite dark, so it is great for defining features. It also has the tiniest bit of shimmer, not that you can see it at all, but it makes you look a little bit more glowy, which gives the natural looking tan effect.

Kate Lipstick- Shade 01
There was no way that I could write this post and not include this lipstick. I have a couple of the shades and they are all amazing quality, but this is my favourite. It is the perfect red lipstick, and although I don't wear red lipstick all that often, when I do, this is the one that I automatically reach for. It is so pigmented, matte but not drying, and it has amazing lasting power. It also has the nicest smell.

Scandaleyes Flex Mascara
This was one of the first drugstore mascaras that I ever bought, and I have recently rediscovered my love for it. It is a little bit weird because the brush at the end is absolutely massive, which makes you think it will be hard to use, but it actually makes it easier. It takes almost no time at all, and it gives your lashes such good volume. It also holds a curl, which is a must for me because I have very straight eyelashes.

What are some of your favourite products from Rimmel?

Favourite Blogs to Read

As a blogger, I love reading other blogs. I love finding inspiration, and also I just really enjoy reading posts. I thought it would be a nice idea to show you some of my favourite blogs to read, so if you don't read them yet, you can start.

Em Talks- http://www.emtalks.co.uk
This is a travel based blog, which I love to read because a lot of the places Em goes to, are places that I want to visit in the future. Also, the photography is amazing.

Anna Saccone- www.annasaccone.com
I did find Anna through Youtube, but I love her blog so much. She posts such a variety of posts ranging from what she eats in a day, to fashion posts involving all of her families outfits, and her children are the cutest.

Fashion Toast- www.fashiontoast.com
This is a fashion blog, which I love because it involves so many outfits that look amazing but are very simple. This is another one with amazing photography.

The Love Cats Inc- www.thelovecatsinc.com
The Love Cats Inc, written by Helen, is one of the first blogs that I ever started reading. Not only do I love all of her content and photography, but I am also in love with the layout of her blog.

The Sunday Girl- www.thesundaygirl.com
This is a beauty based blog, which is my biggest interest. I love reading it for product recommendations and tips, and like the fact that its is mainly product review based.

There are obviously so many others that I enjoy reading, so this is not all of them. If you have any blogs that you think I will enjoy reading, leave me a comment letting me know.

Kiss Cosmetics Mini KISStick- Magnetic Melon Review

Kiss Cosmetics is a new brand that launched earlier this year. Today I am going to be reviewing one of their Mini KISSticks in the colour Magnetic Melon*. These mini lipsticks cost a tiny £2, but the quality that you get for the money is amazing.

If you aren't sure about plunging in straight away and purchasing a whole lipstick, this is perfect. It is a great way to test the formula or the colour before you buy the full size. Saying that though, the mini lipstick isn't that tiny, so the value for money is brilliant.

This lipstick is honestly one of the longest lasting lipsticks that I have tried. I don't always get along with certain lipsticks, as they never seem to last long on me, especially if they have a creamy consistency. However, this one is different. It really does stay on for a very long time and even lasts pretty well through drinking and eating, which did surprise me.

The lipstick isa creamy, but it isn't oily at all. I hate creamy lipsticks when they are oily and then the pigmentation on the lips is dreadful, but this is very different. The coverage and pigmentation are both really good.

This is a strange point, but as it is smaller than most lipsticks, I have found that the small tip is good for outlining your lips, meaning that there is not as much need for lip liner. The size also makes it perfect for travelling, or taking with you to events if you only have a very small bag or clutch.

Although the colour does look red, it is orange when you apply it (which is clearly implied by the name Magnetic Melon). I am not sure that I would repurchase this colour, as it doesn't suit my skin tone all that well, but I would definitely look at buying different colours in the collection. If you have a paler complexion, this colour would be so perfect for you, and it is great for the summer.

Overall, I love this lipstick and can't wait to try out more from the brand.

Have you tried anything out from Kiss Cosmetics yet? What did you think?

Urban Decay Wishlist

I have only recently just started using Urban Decay products, and there are so many more that I would love to try, so here is my wishlist.

Naked Flushed Palette
I have recently just got into contouring and highlighting, and this palette looks amazing. I have heard so many recommendations about it, and I love the fact that there is a bronzer, blusher and highlighter in one palette because it makes it a lot easier for travelling.

Naked Smoky Palette
This is one of the newest releases from Urban Decay. I usually just go for very neutral eyeshadows, so I think the colours in this palette would encourage me to be a little bit more brave with my eye makeup. I have and love the original Naked Palette, so I know from experience that they eyeshadow quality is incredible.

All Nighter EyeLiner
If this does what it says it does, then I need to have this eyeliner. It claims to last all night and also has a waterproof formula. If any of you have tried this, let me know. I would love to know what you think.

All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
I have never tried a setting spray. But I'm always trying to make my makeup last longer, so maybe I should give this a go. Out of all setting sprays, this is the one that I have heard the most positive things about.

If you have tried any of these, please let me know what you think of them.

Quick and Healthy Summer Breakfast Ideas

In the morning, I always want to start my day off with something relatively healthy, but I also want it to be quick to make. Here are some of the breakfasts that I like to make during the summer, that are quick, healthy and delicious.

Fruit, Yoghurt and Granola Mix

This is the easiest thing to make ever, but it is by far my favourite breakfast. All you need is fruit, yoghurt and granola. I use frozen raspberries because I'm weird and prefer frozen ones. You then just mix that with yoghurt and granola, and it is that easy. The frozen fruit works very well, because the yoghurt freezes around it and it tastes so good.

Banana Pancakes

This breakfast is one to make when you have a little bit more time, but it still doesn't take that long. It is so easy to make. All you need is one banana, one egg, and about a cup of oats. Just mash the banana and mix it with the other ingredients.
After that you need to put some non stick cooking spray or oil in a hot frying pan. Then you put a spoonful of the mix in, and wait for it to cook, flipping it once.
I like to eat these with strawberries, and the pancakes also taste great if you add cinnamon to the mixture.

Frozen Fruit Bowl

This is a smoothie bowl, which is perfect if you want to start your day off with a lot of fruit. You just need to put your favourite fruits in a blender, including lots of frozen fruits. I used a banana, frozen raspberries and mixed frozen berries. You then just blend this up and put it into a bowl. I then topped it with some sliced strawberries and granola.

These recipes are all so easy and delicious. Let me know if you try any out.

How to Enjoy Blogging Again

If you have been blogging for a while, you will know that from time to time the novelty and excitement wears off, and can become more of a chore. Whilst I feel bad saying that, because I do enjoy blogging, sometimes I go through phases where I'm just not in the mood. This can last anywhere from just one day, up to a month or so. Usually it is caused by a lack of motivation and ideas, and it can take me a little while to begin to love it again. Here are a few of my tips.

1. The most obvious one, but most effective, is to take a break. Sometimes this can be a stressful idea to a lot of people because they don't want to let their readers down, but people will understand. Readers would probably prefer it if you are blogging when you really want to, because it is more enjoyable to read. If you don't want to take a complete break, which I often don't like doing, just post less often and hopefully you will feel better for it. If you take a break, you will often find that you end up missing it and then feel excited about getting back into it.

2. Th second piece of device kind of ties into the previous one, and that is not to put too much pressure on yourself. The thing that you need to ask yourself, when you are feeling tresses about it all, is what will actually happen if I don't post anything today. Usually it will seem like a big deal at the time, when in fact it isn't.

3. You also need to make sure that you are writing the posts that you want to write, and not writing posts that you don't enjoy because you feel like you should. It is your blog after all. If you are writing posts that you don't enjoy writing, that is probably the reason that you are not feel motivated or loving your blog at the moment. If that could be the issue, then maybe it is time to re-evaluate the posts you are writing, compared to the posts you are currently writing.

4. Once I have taken a break and want to get back into it, I usually like to make a list of all the dates that I want to post and then write down next to the dates, which posts I want to write. This usually makes me feel motivated and get really excited about my upcoming posts.

5. I also find it very helpful and motivating to read other people's blogs. I usually do this by scrolling through recent posts on Bloglovin'. It shows me how other people are enjoying blogging, and it usually leaves me feeling the same way. It an also be very useful, as it an also give you ideas at the same time. If it is a lack of ideas that you are struggling with, please read my post about How to Deal with Bloggers Block, and hopefully that will help you out.

6. My final thing is something that you can't really go yourself but it helps me out a lot, so I thought that I'd include it. Something that also motivates me is reaching a milestone. For example, I was loosing interest in my blog at the beginning of July, and then I recently reached 500 followers on Bloglovin' (feel free to follow me there). It made me so grateful and excited, and made me realise how much I enjoy blogging. Also, nice comments always have the same effect on me and I love reading them.

I hope this has helped in some way. Just remember that it is common to feel like you are losing interest every so often. Blogging is a hobby to most people (unless you do it as a full time job), but it can still be stressful at times. If you have any other ideas, leave them as a comment below. I would also love your feedback on whether or not you found this useful.
