Favourite Products of 2014

This year has been a great year for me, makeup wise. It is the year where I have really got into makeup a lot more and have started trying out loads of different products and brands. In August of this year, I also started this blog, which I love writing.

As this year is coming to a close, I thought that it would be the perfect time to write about some of my favourite products from 2014. Some of them I bought this year, but some are ones that I have used for a while, but especially loved this year.

The first favourite from this year is the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation. It is very well priced at £8.99 and is one of the best drugstore foundations that I have used. The packaging promises better feeling skin in 3 weeks and I wasn't disappointed, after it made a noticeable difference very quickly. It has good coverage and feels light rather than cakey. The range also includes lots of different shades, which is good if you struggle to find foundations that perfectly match your skin. I ran out of this a little while back and have been meaning to pick up some more, because I love it a lot.

My favourite concealer from this year, would have to be Boiing by Benefit. Although I used plenty of different concealers throughout the year, Boiing was a winner for me. It is a more high end concealer, but wasn't overbearingly expensive at £17.50, as it has lasted for around 8 months which I think is amazing. I also bought it Duty Free, so it only cost me around £14. Mine is in Shade 01, which is the palest of them all. In total, there are 5 different shades to choose from. I find it brightens up my eyes a lot when I use it and it also covers spots and blemishes in no time.

I think it is fair to say that most people love the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and I am one of these people. With its lost-lasting matte finish and great price, you can't go wrong. I have been buying this over and over again and I'm pretty sure I will continue to for a long time. The only thing that isn't so great about it is that you have to be careful about how much you use, because if you apply to much, it can look cakey.

My next favourite from this year is the MAC Powder Blush in the colour Fleur Power. I bought this earlier on this year and it was the first MAC Blush that I have ever purchased. I love the colour because it looks bright in the pot but still looks subtle and natural on your cheeks. The pigmentation is good, along with the lasting-power. These are quite pricey at £18, but I think it will last for a long time.

During this year, I haven't had just one mascara that I love and repurchase over and over again. There are many that I love, but this year I have just been shopping around and trying out different brands and formulas. One that has stood out to me, however, is Maybelline's The Falsies. When I first started using this, I have to admit, I wasn't too sure about it. I stuck with it and quickly began to love it. The formula was very wet at first but in a couple of weeks, it dried up a little, which made it easier to apply. The wand of this mascara is amazing and is curved, which makes the mascara so much easier to apply. It lasts all day and holds a curl for a long time and I just really like it.

Before this year, I had never really been much of a lipstick person. I used to just stick to lip glosses or  coloured lip balms, that would just give a hint of colour. During this year, I have gotten a lot more into wearing lipsticks. I have been loving Rimmel's Lasting Finish Lipsticks by Kate Moss. They have been mentioned in quite a few of my posts, because I wear them very often. The two shades that I have are 01 (a very bright red) and 05 (a more pinky colour). They are very long lasting and have a lovely formula and finish.

My last favourite is a skincare product, instead of makeup. It is the Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturiser. I have always suffered with certain dry patches on my face, mainly around my eyes. When I attended London Fashion Week 2013, I was given a goodie bag which included a little sample of this moisturiser. I couldn't believe how amazing it was and how quickly it sorted out my dry skin. Sadly, sample sized don't last for ever . When I looked at buying a full size bottle online, they were around £8, plus postage and packing, which I was too tight to pay. A couple of weeks later I was walking around my local supermarket and I came across a full sized bottle of this moisturiser in the clearance section for about £2... RESULT! It is perfect for dry skin and heals it so quickly. As it is a very oily moisturiser, I try to avoid places on my face which tend to get oily or shiny, as this just makes it worse.

What are your favourite products from this year? Have you tried any of these?

    1. It's not too bad if you apply it in the evening, but I wouldn't recommend using it all over your face right before you do your makeup if you get oily skin x
