Cleaning My Makeup Brushes

I know everyone has a pretty similar way of cleaning their makeup brushes but I find it interesting to find out how others go about it and what products they use. So, I am going to tell you about how I clean my makeup brushes.

Firstly, I know a lot people have a set routine of when they clean their makeup brushes. I personally don't really. I basically just clean my brushes as and when I need to.

Another thing that I know a lot of people like to do, is use a makeup brush cleaner. I have never actually tried out any brush cleaners but I do plan on trying some soon. I use Johnson's Baby Shampoo because it is so gentle and it leaves my brushes feeling fresh and really soft.

So the first thing that I do when cleaning my makeup brushes is run them under warm water. This just removes any excess makeup such as any powder that is pretty loose on the brush.

The next thing that I do is put some of the baby shampoo into my hand and clean the brush with that. I will then run it under the tap until all the shampoo has come off. For some brushes you only need to do this once, but for others you will need to repeat this process a few times. You know that your brushes are clean, when you run them under the tap and no makeup comes off.

After this, I just spread the brushes out into several cups or mugs and leave them to dry.

If you have any makeup brush cleaners that you recommend, please let me know.

Thanks for reading x

  1. I love hearing how other people wash their brushes too! I use fairy liquid and extra virgin olive oil as a conditioner and then dry them by brushing them on the back of my hand to keep their shape.
I would love it if you took a look at my blog xx
