Back To School Organisation Tips

It is that time of year, where school starts again and it is important to stay organised. So, here are my tips to stay organised when you go back to school, college, university or even if you just want to become more organised in general.

I am not going to lie and say that I am the most organised person in the world, but I do think that I have some good tips which could help people. 

1. Don't leave everything until the last minute.
It is so easy to put everything off until the last minute. We have all been there, where you end up rushing something because you didn't leave yourself enough time to do it properly. 
What I like to do, is pretend to myself that the deadline is one day earlier, so even if I leave it until the 'last day' I still have time to complete it. 
I always feel a lot more organised, with things like homework, if I do it on the day that I get given it. However, I know that this is not always possible and if I am honest I am not very good at doing this. 
Just make sure that you leave yourself enough time to do a good job of whatever you have to do.

2. Keep a tidy work space.
This is something that always works for me and I do most of the time. 
I don't know if it is just me, but I really hate working when my bedroom/ work space is messy. I just feel super unorganised and it is easy to lose bits of paper.
So, usually before I do my homework, I spend 10 minutes or so clearing up either my bedroom, desk or work space.

3. Get plenty of sleep
This is something that I definitely have to work on, but I always feel a lot more energized and ready to get work done when I am not tired.
Also, it's no fun to feel drowsy all day because you haven't had enough sleep. I always try to get 9 hours sleep, but when I have to wake up around 7am this can be hard.
Something that has helped me, though, is using an app called Sleep Cycle. It basically measures how long you sleep for and how well you sleep at different points during the night.
It made me realise that I needed to get more sleep and it really helps.

4. Use Folders
I find using folders or binders really help with organisation of school work and homework. You can use dividers to separate your folder into subjects or topics. They are an easy way to flick through all of the sheets you have, instead of losing them.

5. Write Lists
I have all ways loved writing lists. They really help me to organise myself and all of the things that I need to get done.
If you have lots of things to remember, I recommend figuring out what order you need to do things and write them down in a list.
Another app that I recommend is Wunderlist. You basically just write in all of the things that you need to do and then tick them off as you go along.
