Navy Smokey Eye Look

Today, I thought I'd do somewhat of a different post. Instead of including a picture of my makeup and a list of the products I used, I thought it would be better to show you how I did it in a video.

If you have any questions about the products I used, feel free to leave a comment!

I hope you enjoy this different type of post. Let me know what you think!

Next Beauty Launch

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Next Beauty launch in London. It was a lovely night, where I got to meet and speak to other bloggers. There were displays of the new products, delicious food and you also had the option of getting your makeup and nails done, and your brows threaded. There were also two live makeup tutorials from the lovely Lydia Millen.

I received a goodie bag with a selection of the new products, so I thought I'd share my first impressions with you. When I think of Next, I never think of them selling makeup, so I was pleasantly surprised with the amazing quality of them.

My favourite product that I was sent was the Cherry Red Lip Chubby. It is so glossy, but still has amazing coverage.

Another lip product that I received was the Simply Peach Matte Lip Colour. I love the packaging of this lipstick, and the colour is a beautiful pinky nude. The lipsticks retail at £8 each.

The Perfect Look Ink Liner was also sent to me, in the colour Praline Brown. I love that this is a brown eyeliner, rather than the typical black one, although it does come in black too. I was so impressed with this product, because when I first swatched it, it took so much effort to get off, meaning it will have great lasting power.

The final makeup product I for was the Perfect Cheeks Blusher, also retailing at £8. It is a lovely blush for spring and summer, as it is shimmery but still subtle.

The final two things I received were part of the Nail Colour Collection. The shimmery blue is called Frozen, and I love the name. The grey is called Molten Platinum. I had the chance to look at all of the nail polishes at the event, and there are so many colours.

I had a lovely time at the event. Big thanks to Next Beauty. I would definitely recommend you checking out their products, either in store or online here.

Guest Post || Spring Skin Detox: DIY Tips

It is about time you practiced some skin loving care as the spring has already come and you still have those dead cells after the dull winter. Spring is the time when everything is in bloom and so needs your skin to be! Hesitate no more, the time to combat the dead skin cells is now.

Everything starts with the diet

First of all, you need to take care of the food you are eating. If you opt for skin detoxifying food you are about to experience a radical change in the glow your skin has. My favourite thing ever is to start the day with a detoxifying green drink which leaves me with a clearer skin and with a piece of mind. Not only am I more relaxed after drinking it, but I have a positive experience regarding my digestive system – it is easy to digest and I feel that this kind of drink gives me a lot of energy, so this is how I prepare my favourite drink ever:
You will need a lemon, three cups of water, a bit of ginger, four tiny slices of cucumber and ¼ cup of mint. I put all of these into a blender and mix it until the drink becomes smooth. If you like you can add ice to get a refreshing effect. The lemon is a magnificent fruit to start the day with and its tummy-slimming effects are well-known. This potion will make you forget about bloating and the best of all – you will get the perfect skin you always wanted.

Your face needs a mask

In order to have a clearer skin on your face, you may just go to your kitchen cabinets and grab the honey jar, a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. Take two teaspoons of honey and mix them with one of cinnamon and a bit of nutmeg. Once it is perfectly mixed, squeeze a bit of lemon and mix it all together. The effects will be amazing! A friend recommended this mask to me and I imagined it would take me at least couple of weeks to see the results, but I was utterly amazed when I noticed them instantly.

Choose makeup wisely

Do not go harsh on your skin, the make up you apply can do more harm to your skin than you might even think. In the past I thought that only long-lasting effect of the make up was important, but, Gosh, I was so wrong! These days I discovered something that changed my attitude towards the cosmetics, and in order to detox your facial skin I recommend you to only use natural and mineral-based make up. My BFF recommended to me Jane Iredale makeup products which she absolutely loves now! She had her skin spring ready in no time, and I could not help but ask her what was her secret, and then she introduced me to this fabulous mineral make up. So, it is possible to look beautiful and do your skin detox at the same time.

Your hair needs a treatment, too

Forget about expensive treatments at your hairdresser’s, I have found something that will make your hair look better than ever. After a long period of using hair straighteners and curling irons you probably realized how damaged your hair is. Then I must recommend you this recipe for restoring your hair completely, helping it grow faster and it will give you natural healthy glow.
What you will need is organic coconut oil and honey. Just mix a tablespoon of coconut oil with a tablespoon of honey. If your hair is really damaged, I suggest that you add some extra oil. Apply this mask to a dry hair from top to the bottom and leave it to rest for at least an hour. Be sure to use a towel or a shower cap if you do not want to ruin your clothes while keeping the mask on your hair. Then, just rinse it with a regular shampoo and a conditioner and prepare to be amazed by a softer, smoother and healthier hair you are about to get!
Your hair and skin need a deep treatment to get ready for the spring so be sure to provide them with natural and mineral based substances that will keep them nourished and healthy.

University or Not?

Currently, at 17 years old, I am facing the decision whether I should go to university or not. I feel very fortunate to be in a society with access to some of the best further education facilities in the world (even if £9,000 a year is extortionate), and always thought I would take full advantage of that, but now I'm not too sure.

I have always done pretty well at school, and have often been told that I can achieve big things with that, so I have always been pretty sure that I would attend university. However, now that it is almost time for me to apply I'm starting to wonder whether or not it's actually what I want.

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that I would love university if I went. The majority of people that go say it's the best years of their lives, and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. However, at this current moment, I still have no idea what I want to do with my life. I'm starting to wonder if it is worth me spending £30,000 on a degree that I may never use, and spend the next however many years paying it off.

At the moment, the only thing I want to do is travel the world. I have no idea what to do with my life, but will uni help me with that? I have always been of the opinion that I will go where life takes me and I will figure it out along the way.

I am not against either, and am currently facing a very hard decision. I am interested to hear from people from both sides, so please please please leave me a comment, whether you've been to university or not.

How I Organise my Nail Polishes

I have more nail polishes than anyone could ever need in a lifetime, so keeping them organised is pretty important. I keep them all in a drawer and the top of them all look the same, so it takes me ages to rummage through them to find a colour.

Instead, I came up with a new way of organising them, to cut down the time that it takes for me to choose and find a nail polish. It didn't take to long for me to organise them either.

I bought some colour display wheels, which you can get for really cheap on Amazon, and then some little white stickers.

I wrote numbers on the stickers and stuck them each next to a nail on the wheel. I then painted each nail on the wheel, and stuck a sticker with the corresponding number on top of the nail polish.

It means that when it comes to choosing my nail polish, I can look at the wheels and pick a colour, find what number it is, and find the corresponding bottle of nail polish. It makes things a whole lot easier, and saves a lot of time. I love the idea of it all being organised, too!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

As much as I like high end mascaras, there has always been something about Maybelline mascaras that I love more. I heard great things about Lash Sensational for so long, and finally decided to pick it up a couple of months ago.

At first I didn't get along with it at all, but I often find that with new mascaras, so I kept using it and I am very glad I did. It has shot right up there now and has become one of my all time favourites. The formula is a little bit more dry than other Maybelline mascaras, which I like because it takes less time to dry in between applying layers. It also holds a curl a lot better than most other mascaras, and smudges a lot less.

As I mention a lot, I don't have the longest eyelashes. So using lengthening mascaras is essential for me. I love the fact that this mascara gives amazing length, but also amazing volume. It is a good amount of volume, that makes your lashes thicker but not clumpy.

It makes your eyes look a lot bigger. I wear false lashes quite a lot now, and I find this mascara to be a good one to use when blending your real lashes into the false ones. It is also good on the bottom lashes.

My only small issue with it is the shape of the applicator because it isn't great at separating your lashes completely. It isn't impossible but it just takes a bit of work.

Have you tried this out? What do you think?
